Step 1

Conversation

El Negocio Tequila needed a display that would stop customers in their tracks.

Not a generic rack — a custom-built, brand-forward point-of-purchase display for retail liquor stores that would showcase their Blanco and Joven lines with the same intensity as the brand itself.

  • Two bottle racks — Six bottles each, twelve total across Blanco and Joven
  • Hidden storage — Excess inventory concealed in the bamboo base box
  • Full branding — Logo medallion, "El Negocio Tequila" text, "An Unholy Alliance" tagline
  • Knock-down design — Flat-pack shipping, tool-free on-site assembly
  • Floor mobility — Four locking casters for repositioning on the retail floor
Step 2

Proposal & Iterate

Five distinct manufacturing processes converging on a single product.

We scoped a modular system built around four core sub-assemblies, each leveraging a different manufacturing technology for optimal performance.

  • Welded mild steel L-frame — Structural backbone, MIG welded from square tubing
  • Two identical tray assemblies — Four manufactured components each — CNC aluminum, SLS nylon, SLA resin, FDM Mounts and Top Logo
  • Multi-color logo topper — The brand's signature snake-and-handshake medallion
  • Laser-engraved bamboo storage box — Doubles as the display base, hides excess inventory
Step 3

Design & Iterate

Designed from scratch in Fusion 360 — POP Display has had many design iterations

Every component was parametrically modeled from the customer's requirements. The assembly comprises over 20 distinct parts, with the tray system being the most engineered sub-assembly.

  • CNC-machined aluminum base — Six branded circular inserts with diamond cross-hatch surface
  • SLS Nylon 12 + CF outer shell — Structural frame and mounting points
  • SLA-printed bottle cradles — Fine-detail geometry matching bottle contours precisely
  • FDM sign brackets — Mechanical connections to the steel frame
Step 4

Review

Every connection point uses threaded inserts and machine screws — easily disassembles for shipping & transport.

Final design review locked in the material palette and finish specifications. Bead-blasted aluminum, carbon fiber post processed, and laser-engraved bamboo with branding on the front face and the El Negocio logo burned into the interior lid.

  • Finished aluminum — Brushed finish on all tray bases
  • Carbon fiber reinforced Nylon — Sign bracket and topper mount areas
  • Laser-engraved bamboo — Branding on front face and interior lid
  • Tool-free knock-down assembly — Threaded inserts and machine screws at every connection
Step 5

Build & Iterate

Manufacturing spanned five processes running in parallel across the shop floor.

CNC Machining — Haas VF2

6061 aluminum tray bases machined from billet.

Six circular bottle inserts with engraved "El Negocio Tequila" branding and a diamond cross-hatch surface for grip and drainage. The "An Unholy Alliance" text banner was also CNC-cut from aluminum.

Welding

Mild steel L-frame, MIG welded from square tubing.

Two vertical posts with horizontal shelf mounts and a L footing that is a mount point for the bamboo storage box.

FDM - Nylon 12 + Carbon Fiber

Structural tray shells in Nylon 12 + Carbon Fiber.

Rigidity and a premium matte black finish. These shells wrap the aluminum base trays and provide the mounting interface for bottle guards and sign brackets.

CNC - Haas VF2

Bottle cradle supports machines from 6061 Aluminum plates

Fine-detail geometry — cradle profiles match bottle contours precisely.

FDM — AON M2+ & Bambu X1C

Sign brackets, post clamps, and structural mounting components.

Engineering-grade filament handling all mechanical connections — clamping to steel frame posts and supporting branded signage.

Assembly & Finishing

The complete kit lays flat for shipping.

Bamboo storage box received laser-engraved branding and internal mounting brackets. Every part designed for knock-down assembly.

Step 6

Deliver & Iterate

From initial conversation to retail floor — concept to atoms, delivered.

The displays shipped as flat-pack kits and were assembled on-site at retail locations. Here they are doing exactly what they were designed to do — commanding attention and showcasing the El Negocio Tequila line.
